God has a plan for your increase. And you have to believe that it is the will of God for you to increase in life. It is not a curse or a shame to start small in life. In fact, most of us will start small in life but God’s will is for us to increase as life progresses. You don’t have to settle for a small life. God did not invest so much in you and your redemption only to be expecting a feeble outcome. God wants you to live your life to the full! Smallness is not God’s plan for you.

In Job 8:7 the word of God says Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase”.

And in Psalms 115:12-15, the word of God says “The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth”. God is mindful of us and our children and He has a plan to increase us in all areas of life. The blessing of God is what sets us on the path of Increase. The blessing of God empowers us to succeed in all areas of life.

Consider Abraham:

In Isaiah 51:2, we are admonished to draw inspiration from Abraham: “Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him”.

Abraham was a Nobody before he started his journey of faith with God yet God called him, blessed him and increased him greatly.

God admonished us to draw inspiration from Abraham because Abraham is a perfect example and proof of how God’s grace can bring a Nobody into Greatness through a Covenant Relationship with God. If God could increase Abraham in spite of his unattractive background, He can do it for you too.

Abraham’s Increase was not accidental. It came through a process. The above passage of the Bible reveals three critical phases in Abraham’s journey to greatness: the “Call”, the “Blessing” and the “Increase”. The Call led to the Blessing and the Blessing produced the Increase.

A Covenant Walk

God said to Abraham “…I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly – Gen 17:1-2”.

God was searching for a man that will partner with Him to establish God’s purpose on earth. And Abraham was that man. But for God to partner with Abraham God had to first establish a basis for mutual trust and so He cut a covenant with Abraham. Covenant relationship is the strongest and most trusted relationship because covenant demands for sacrifice and a lifelong commitment from the parties involved (Ref: Ps 89: 34). When two parties enter into a covenant, they are saying to each other “All I have is yours”, “I will put your interest first”, “Your enemy becomes my enemy and I will fight anyone who fights you”.

After cutting the covenant with Abraham, to be sure that Abraham understood the implications of the covenant and that he will be faithful to the covenant God tested Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his son Isaac whom Abraham loved so much. As costly as it was, Abraham did not hesitate to obey God because he had a covenant relationship with God and the covenant forbids him from withholding anything from God that God might request. When God saw Abraham’s faithfulness, He said to Abraham By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice – Gen 22:16-18”

This was the turning point in Abraham’s life – “The Place of Obedience and Sacrifice”! This was Abraham’s journey to greatness!

God is always searching for someone who feels His heartbeat and is willing to midwife God’s purpose on earth. God has an agenda on earth and is looking for someone who will partner with Him to establish His kingdom agenda on earth. When God finds such a person He will bless that person and increase him or her greatly. Your background should no longer hold you down because God has taken care of your background through the redemptive work of Christ. When God blesses you His blessing overrides your background and empowers you to succeed in life. Your Qualification is not the issue because when the Grace of God comes on you, Grace overwrites your qualification or weakness. God is looking for a covenant heart! God wants us to walk in a covenant relationship with Him – A Covenant of Service and Sacrifice! Some may say we already have a covenant relationship with God through the Blood of Jesus. Is that not enough? Yes, it is more than enough for our redemption! Because of the blood of Jesus, our sins are washed away, we are reconciled to God, and we received eternal life when we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. And yes, all this was possible not because of our sacrifice but because of the sacrifice of Jesus. So, why then does my sacrifice still matter to God?

In 2 Corinthians 9:6-10, Paul the Apostle said: “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness).

We learn from the forgoing passage of scriptures that “Purposeful Giving” releases God’s ability and activates God’s grace on your behalf and for your prosperity. We also learn that the sacrifice we make in giving is a major factor in the quality and volume of harvest. Most importantly, we learn that when we sow seeds in the form of material of financial substance into the work of the Kingdom with cheerful heart we can expect that God will multiply such seeds back to us in harvest for our increase.

The beauty of redemption is that it reconciles us to God and brings us into an everlasting covenant relationship with God through the blood of Jesus Christ. Redemption therefore, creates covenant consciousness in us and enables us to worship and serve God effectively. The point is, if you are a child God, God wants you to come into the realms of worship, where like the woman by Jacob’s well you are willing to sacrifice your precious waterpot and partner with God to birth His kingdom agenda on earth! The question is, what sacrifice have you made or are you willing to make to advance the church, the work of the Gospel, and the Kingdom of God on earth? If you claim to be in a covenant relationship with God, would you obey God like Abraham and release your best to God for the work of the kingdom? God has already given us His best (Jesus Christ) and is willing to freely give us all things and increase us greatly but first, He wants us to come to Him in true worship, be conscious of our Covenant relationship with him and live a life of Obedience, Service and Sacrifice!

Now make these declarations:

  1. I affirm that I have a covenant relationship with God through the blood of Jesus Christ and nothing shall separate me from the Love of God.
  1. I declare that I have a heart of Obedience and Sacrifice and I walk always in the leading of God.
  2. I declare that God’s will for me is increase in all areas of life therefore I refuse to be small.
  3. I declare that the days of smallness are over in my life and I receive God’s grace for Supernatural Increase.
  4. I declare that Prosperity is mine! The days of smallness are over in my life! It’s my season of Increase!
  5. I declare that I am free from all forms of limitations, stagnancy and setbacks in the name of Jesus!
  6. I declare that the blessing of God is on me and the blessing of God overrides anything and everything in my background that hinders progress.
